Thank Your Lucky Stars~
Health, art, a webcomic, freelance and other things.

First of all I want to apologize for not having today’s page of Lucky Lupin on time. Previous weeks when that happened I didn’t address it because I always felt people wouldn’t care, but I see that’s a bit silly of me to assume so I want to make it right.

Today’s page is late because I somehow hurt my neck in my sleep. I can barely move my head right now and it’s not only annoying but hurts like sin. Why it happened I can only guess, but it’s not the only thing that’s happened to me lately.

A week or so back I was also having terrible wrist pain from all the drawing I do. On top of all that, stress. Lots and lots of stress.

There has been a ton of things going on with me since December last year and I ended up letting some good habits go and swapping them for some bad ones. I need to remedy that ASAP.

As a freelance artist I have no health insurance through a company or workers compensation. If this type of thing happens, I fall behind on work and that’s bad. I live with my parents and have health insurance currently but that won’t last forever.

We are always alright until something goes wrong. We never want to think about when it goes wrong. Lately it’s been going wrong for me.

So I need to switch a few things around in order to make things work the way I want them to. Right now I have a lot on my plate. I’m an English teacher with new students, I got my webcomic and I’m also illustrating a kids book with a tight deadline. All of these matter to me except one… Teaching English.

One day I wanna be able to be an illustrator and writer full time. But for that to work I can’t afford these little incidents. So this is a reminder to myself and to other artists as well. We need healthy habits. We need to prioritize our health above all else.

If my neck is doing better by tomorrow then I will finish that page and post it up. If not, please be patient with me. I will get it done and I will do my best to keep on schedule with these. I love doing my webcomic and I’m happy to have readers for it. Thank you all.

As for everything else, with time I’ll make changes for the better I hope :)

Protip: This is a really bad question to ask when visiting the National Mall. We have 8 buildings surrounding the Mall, and a total of 19 museums, 9 research centers and the National Zoo. A S.H.I.E.L.D agent should know better!

(We think she means the Smithsonian’s National Museum of Natural History in this case.)

I love that this is on the Smithsonian’s tumblr

#i was about to get annoyed about someone taking this too seriously but then i saw who posted it

Brilliant.

So I’m sure you recognize this as one of the epic moments from “The Prince of Egypt” where we see the super majestic whale as they cross through the Red Sea. However I noticed just one little issue: whale tales don’t move from side to side, they move up and down. And then it hit me, that’s not a whale. That’s not a whale. It’s a motherfucking SHARK. A BIG ASS MEGALODONIAN SHARK. WAITING IN THE WATER TO EAT THE PHARAOH’S SOLDIERS. Goddamn, Dreamworks.

Well damn… That does make more sense.

For Atlantis, Disney needed a new language for the Atlantean people. To do this, Disney hired Mark Okrand, the man who also created the famous Klingon and Vulcan for the Star Trek series. In the Atlantean language, Mark Okrand’s main source for it’s roots and stems of its words are Proto-Indo-European,but as Okrand also described it as being the “tower of babel” or “root dialect” for all languages in the world, he also used ancient Chinese, Latin, Greek, Biblical Hebrew, along with many other ancient languages or their reconstructions. As such, you can actually learn to write and speak the language!

This film is so underrated it hurts.

ah this explains how they understood french and english so well almost instantly… better than the magical wind in Pocahontas that’s for sure

And this is why you always bring at least two photographers.

AWW that last one looks like the baby is taking a photo of the other baby.
